Statement of Philosophy
That all people, whatever their health, have great and unlimited value.
That people with an incurable disease such as Alzheimer’s, can experience a maximized Quality of Life from support that recognizes their individual needs for both body and spirit.
That all people, including those with dementia, have a right, and a need to feel loved, to feel attached, connected and included, to have experiences of joy and comfort, a sense of self worth, and to be meaningfully engaged.
That care and support must be based on an understanding of each person’s life history, recognition of their individual Personhood, assessment of abilities and needs, including emotional, medical, social, and spiritual.
That people with dementia have deeply seated emotional memories that can often still be reached in late stage.
That people who may have diminished resources due to disease and illness, also make a meaningful contribution to our shared humanity.
That we provide support for our residents for all of life, consistent with the principles of Hospice and Palliative care.
